Digital Tools for Inclusive Language Classrooms

Empowering teachers to harness digital tools to foster inclusive plurilingual classrooms

About our
research

PluriTech is a research project that aims to support teachers use of digital tools to foster inclusive plurilingual learning environments in the language classroom.

The prism-shaped logo reflects the core of the project as it echoes the connection between three language teaching contexts:

  • FLScol in francophone schools;
  • FLScol in anglophone schools; and
  • ESL in anglophone schools

brought together in a shared space for dialogue, reflection, and mobilization.

Let's Mobilize!

What We Did

  • Explore teachers’ beliefs about plurilingual teaching and technology use
  • Identify strategies and tools for mobilizing students’ linguistic repertoires
  • Understand how technology and pedagogy intersect in FSL and ESL contexts

Why it Matters

  • 90% of teachers believe students should use all their languages in the classroom
  • 59% feel comfortable using technology; only 54% feel supported
  • Most use tech often but say training has limited impact

What This Means

Teachers see the value in plurilingual and tech-based pedagogy, but gaps in support and training limit their impact in the language classroom.

Research Team

This research is carried out by the Language and Education Research Group (EducLang). Its objective is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge associated with languages, their teaching and learning. It also aims to disseminate in Canada and around the world, in both French and English, the research conducted on the subject within the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa.
