Monty McGahey II, Chippewa Language Development Specialist, will be speaking about his efforts teaching, learning and working on Language Revitalization with the Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinabe community on February 18th at 2:30 PM (EST).

In this session, Monty Mcgahey II will share his experience teaching his Indigenous language to adult learners on Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinaabeg territory, also known as the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation since 2011. He has worked in Indigenous Language revitalization over the last 12 years. He will share his own journey learning the language, the importance of building relationships with fluent speakers to support learners, the methods and teaching style he uses and some of the positives and challenges of learning and teaching his Indigenous language.
