Marie-Carène Pierre René holds a PhD in Education and Second Languages from the University of Ottawa.
Throughout her doctoral studies, Dr. Pierre René has focused on “Black” English learning, or what Ibrahim (2004) calls Black Stylized English, among Black Canadian students.
Her fields of interest are racialization, anti-racist education and language didactics.
